Your questions, answered

Is jump rope good cardio?

Is it okay to jump rope every day?

If you’re a beginner, we recommend jumping rope 1-2 times a week. Start slowly and gradually build up as your muscles adapt to the exercise. Always listen to your body and rest when you need. Check out our how often should you jump rope blog post for a full breakdown.

What parts of your body does jumping rope tone?

Weighted jump ropes create more resistance and engage more muscles. Specifically, weighted jump ropes target calf muscles, glutes, abs, oblique muscles, forearms, biceps, triceps, shoulders, back muscles, and chest muscles. Check out our benefits of weighted jump ropes infographic for more information.

Can I lose weight by jumping rope every day?

With proper nutrition and regular post-workout recovery, you can see weight loss results by incorporating jump rope workouts into your daily routine. If you’re a beginner, we do not recommend jumping every day. See our how often should you jump rope blog post for more information.

How long should you jump rope for a beginner?

We recommend that beginners jump 1-2 times a week focusing on short sessions.

Is jumping rope a full body workout?

Yes, with a weighted jump rope you’re getting a full-body workout.

Is jumping without a rope still effective?

You can jump without a rope. Will you get the same results? No. If you’re a beginner trying to improve your rhythm or you’re learning new tricks, jumping without a rope can be very helpful. However, you won’t see the same physical results if you’re not using a rope.

Using a jump rope, you burn more calories than without a rope because you involve more muscle groups in the exercise. You’re not only using your legs to jump, but you’re also engaging your entire upper body to swing the rope. Involving more muscles will get you better results.

Are weighted jump ropes good for beginners?

Absolutely! We believe that everyone can benefit from weighted jump ropes. If you’ve tried jumping before but got frustrated with trip-ups and mistakes, your rope was likely too light. A weighted jump rope slows down your rotations, and the added feel helps you coordinate your jumps.
