Meet Brandon Trahan - aka "Btown."
Brandon is a 33 year-old, self-professed “normal guy” who loves his wife and kids and works full-time. He also loves to play the drums, exercise regularly, and even train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
He recently started using Crossrope to prepare for his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fights and swears it (along with his awesome professor and team) helped him take home the gold in his tournament. But we know it was also a lot of hard work and preparation on his end.
We asked Brandon to share his story and his experience with Crossrope training with our community. Check out what he had to say.
CR: What are your short-term and long-term fitness goals?
BT: My fitness goals are always long term...but to live a long and healthy life to watch my kids grow up. I want to be called “gramps” one day!
CR: What have been some of your challenges/roadblocks and how did you push through them?
BT: The challenges and roadblocks I’ve always encountered are the same as anyone else: laziness!! But I make sure I get my butt up and go - especially with Crossrope!
CR: How did you find out about Crossrope?
BT: I knew there had to be more out there than just the generic, store-bought ropes, so I did some research, found the Zen Dude Fitness guys, started using Crossrope, and got hooked! I first ordered the Starter Set, but after my awesome first experience with weighted ropes, I added the 1/2 Lb Energy and 2 Lb Fury about 3 weeks later.
CR: Did you jump rope prior to using Crossrope?
BT: I would occasionally skip rope, but nothing special (just basic). I was always pretty decent at it, but Crossrope inspired me to step it up...
...especially when I was preparing for a tournament.
CR: What was your experience like the very first time you used Crossrope?
BT: Unreal. I initially thought, "This probably won’t make too much of a difference.” Nope!! Pretty incredible how smooth it is...and man what a workout!
CR: How often do you use your Crossrope system?
BT: At least 4 times a week. When I train, I use my Crossrope before class and it gives me an amazing warm-up.
CR: What are some of the main changes you’ve noticed since using Crossrope?
BT: Winning gold at a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament! It boosted my cardio like crazy!
CR: What are some of your favorite Crossrope workouts?
BT: I’m currently learning how to do double unders. They’re so hard! But thankfully, Dave teaches you how with his double unders system!
CR: What advice would you give to someone else considering Crossrope for his or her fitness goals?
BT: Crossrope gives you the opportunity to learn to skip rope easily if you're a beginner because of the different weighted ropes they have. And I find that it's much easier to shred fat using Crossrope as opposed to running (and most other forms of exercise).
I can't stress how incredible this system is.
A lot of people want to make excuses, like they don't like to jump rope because they “aren't good at it” or because it hurts their knees, shins, feet. But then they will take up running and everything else under the sun (which can actually be more harmful in the long run)!
I think Crossrope is the most diverse tool you can have in your fitness tool box, and I think that jumping rope is majorly neglected in fitness circles today.
Personally, I'll never go without a Crossrope again. I'm in love!
